General Ledger Interfaces

While many ADP clients enjoy excellent service and benefits from using ADP payroll services, they could be enjoying a lot less work as well. Once a payroll is completed and the checks have been sent, the accounting department of a company usually goes into high gear producing journal entries from the payroll reports that ADP provides. However, this manual process is time consuming, error-prone, and inefficient.

Tarver Program Consultants can help make your relationship with ADP even better by providing your company with an electronic general ledger interface to convert ADP journal entries into a format that your accounting software can import.

ADP offers their clients a standard downloadable file called a General Ledger Interface (GLI) file that is a collection of all payroll transactions for a particular payroll period. However, ADP only provides this file in a single format which cannot be modified. Tarver Program Consultants can take the standard GLI formatted file and using layouts provided by your accounting software company convert the GLI file into a file that your accounting software can import.

One area that gets little attention is the area of Accruals. ADP produces accrual transactions along with the payroll transactions. However, what we do is produce both the import file for all the transactions and accruals, and also a reversing file that can be loaded after an accounting period has been closed to reverse the effects of the accruals. We have several clients who have chosen this option and have been thrilled by the results. No more adjusting entries and no more mistakes!

Once the G/L Interface is completed and tested, it is shipped to you where it is installed on your computers and run whenever necessary. There are no monthly service fees or process fees. You pay only for the initial development of the interface. This makes our G/L interface a very good investment when you consider the man-hours necessary to produce the same amount of detail and accuracy. Most of our customers find that the cost of development can recouped in just a few months time.

We can also handle transmitting the transactional information to Job Costing Systems. We have developed custom systems that handle fixed allocations of payroll data as well as producing Gross-To-Net distributions for fully detailed and/or capitalized general ledgers.

As with all of the software we create, we provide a twelve (12) month Software Maintenance Agreement that covers any problems you may encounter with our product.
